Dino's = Mmmmm

I’ve had several opportunities to eat at Dino’s Italian Pizzeria in Bessemer City. My coworkers and I have made the trek from Dallas to Bessemer City for lunch several times. I can’t ever remember dining here and hearing a bad word spoken about the food.

Dino’s has a great atmosphere. It seats around 60 people comfortably, has a nice décor and friendly, hospitable staff. It’s the kind of place one would just go to hangout. His wife and the rest of the front of the house are just that nice.

The menu is typical of Italian eateries in the south. Several pasta and Red Sauce entrée selections as well as several pasta with cream sauce choices. Proteins include the usuals; chicken, beef, veal, etc. In addition to this there’s also shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels available as components of several menu items. There’s also baseball sized meatballs available for anyone who dares try it.

My selection du jour was Angelina’s Butter Cream Chicken. Imagine a cream sauce. Fatty and silky when coating the tongue. The sautéed ham and onions make for a perfect base and its flavor is very complimentary of the sauce it helps form. The mushrooms provide an earthy flatness that plays well with the cream, preventing it from getting too out of hand but marrying well with the other flavors. I ordered chicken with my entrée which was lightly floured, pan fried and tender. All this served over spaghetti along with an ample portion of the house salad! I was not displeased!!! My compatriots enjoyed other selections including the house made Supreme Pizza and the Lasagna Red with those giant meatballs.

Lastly, I ordered the Banana Pudding Dessert Cake which is half cheesecake/half layer cake. I wasn’t super impressed by the layer cake half but the cheesecake? Oh that cheesecake!!! Let’s just say it had me in a coma for the rest of the afternoon. Long story short, visit Dino’s.
